One school, nine grades, inside a brand-new town.
Taozijiao Combined Junior High and Elementary School opened in 2001 as a junior high, adding its elementary division the following year to become a single K-9 institution. Its 5.2-hectare campus, with 48 elementary classes and 21 junior-high classes, sits inside the "Beida Special District" (北大特區), a large planned new town built around National Taipei University's Sanxia campus that has transformed the surrounding farmland into dense modern housing. As a combined institution, the school appears here as a single page even though some directories may list its junior-high and elementary divisions separately.
What makes this school worth knowing.
🍑 Named for the Old "Peach Tree Foot"
The school's name preserves "桃子腳莊," an old place-name recalling a legend of three peach trees where travelers once rested — a rural memory kept alive amid a fully modern new town.
🏙️ Anchoring the Beida Special District
Built inside the planned new town surrounding National Taipei University's Sanxia campus, the school serves a rapidly growing population of young families in newly built housing.
🏫 One School, Nine Grades
Established as a junior high in 2001 and expanded with an elementary division in 2002, the school now runs grades 1 through 9 as a single combined institution.
🌳 From Farmland to New Town
Its 5.2-hectare campus reflects the same transformation as its surroundings: land once devoted to agriculture now supports a 48-classroom elementary division and a 21-classroom junior-high division.
A rural memory inside a modern new town.
The name "Taozijiao" (桃子腳) preserves a pre-development place-name — local legend holds that three peach trees once stood here, offering shade to travelers passing through what was then open farmland. That rural memory now sits at the center of the Beida Special District, one of Shulin's largest and newest planned communities. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
