Taiping Elementary School

Taiping Elementary School is the oldest elementary school in Taiping District, founded in 1918 during the Japanese colonial era as Taiping Public School. As the district's first school, it later became the historical root from which several other Taiping schools — including Pinglin, Yixin, Jianping, and Dongping — eventually split off as independent institutions. The original campus suffered severe damage in the 1999 earthquake and was rebuilt, with a new campus completed in 2001.

太平國小是太平區歷史最悠久的國小，創立於日治時期大正7年（1918年），初名「太平公學校」。作為太平地區的第一所學校，它也是坪林、宜欣、建平、東平等多所太平地區學校日後分校獨立的歷史源頭。原校舍在921大地震中嚴重受損，重建後的新校舍於民國90年（2001年）完工啟用。
