From a temple classroom to a modern campus.
Songzhu Elementary's history stretches back to 1904, when it began as a branch classroom of Dayan Public School held inside the Sizhangli Wenchang Temple. It was renamed Sanfenpu Public School in 1913, then Beitun Public School in 1921, before finally taking its current name in 1968. Today it is one of the oldest and largest schools in this Beitun batch, with roughly 55 classes and about 1,469 students, blending traditional folk sports with modern digital-age clubs.

🦁 A Large, Active Campus
約55班大型校園
With roughly 55 classes and nearly 1,500 students, Songzhu ranks among the larger elementary schools profiled in this batch of Beitun schools.
Rooted in the district's oldest place-name.
Its roots as a 1904 branch classroom held inside the Sizhangli Wenchang Temple (四張犁文昌廟) tie the school directly to the district's oldest place-name and folk-religious heritage, a rare living link to pre-colonial Beitun. See the Taichung county page for more on the region.
