樹義國民小學於民國91年（2002年）創立，為紓解南區快速成長期間和平、信義、國光等鄰近國小的擁擠壓力而設。校名取自樹義里，地方後來將其詮釋為「樹人立義」之意。學校設有專屬雙語課程，並成立國樂團。
