From a girls' agricultural school to a complete secondary school.
Shulin Senior High traces its roots to 1944, when it opened under Japanese rule as Yingge Girls' Agricultural Practice School (鶯歌女子農業實踐學校). After Taiwan's 1945 retrocession, it was renamed first Yingge Junior High and then Shulin Junior High, reflecting the shifting administrative geography of the area. A senior-high division was added in 1948, and in 1995 the school became one of the first three complete secondary schools in the old Taipei County, a distinction it still holds today as it continues to operate both junior-high and senior-high divisions side by side.

🌾 A Legacy Rooted in Agriculture
源自農業實踐的傳統
Its earliest incarnation as an agricultural practice school echoes Shulin's roots as a riverside farming settlement before its 20th-century industrial and residential growth.
From riverside farmland to railway town.
Shulin District grew from a riverside farming settlement along the Dahan River into a busy railway town and now a dense residential suburb of New Taipei City. The school's own evolution — from a Japanese-era girls' agricultural school into the district's flagship complete secondary school — tracks this same shift from agrarian life to a modern urban district. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
