Zhongxing Elementary began on January 2, 1963, as the "Niaosong Elementary School Xiangpu Branch," becoming independent in 1966 and taking its current name in 1977. The school is locally known for the row of kapok and tallow trees flanking its entrance, and for its long-standing effort to keep the traditional spinning-top (陀螺) folk game alive among its students.

中興國小前身為民國52年(1963年)1月2日成立的「蔦松國小瓊埔分班」,民國55年(1966年)獨立設校,民國66年(1977年)更為現名。學校以校門兩側的木棉與烏桕樹聞名地方,並長期推廣傳統陀螺民俗技藝,讓這項技藝在學生間傳承下去。
