From a branch class to a bilingual-education leader.

Shuilin Junior High began in August 1961 as the "Beigang Junior High School Shuilin Branch," becoming fully independent in October 1963. Renamed to its current title in 1968, the school has grown into the principal junior high serving Shuilin Township. In recent years it has taken a leading role in bilingual education locally, operating a dedicated Bilingual Office to support English-medium instruction across the campus.

水林國中創立於民國50年(1961年)8月,最初為「北港國中水林分部」,民國52年(1963年)10月正式獨立設校,民國57年(1968年)更為現名,逐步發展為水林鄉主要的國民中學。近年來學校積極推動雙語教育,設有專責的雙語教育推動辦公室,支援全校英語授課發展。
