A school named for a rebel leader.

Shuangwen Junior High was established in 1999 and welcomed its first students in 2002. The school takes its name from Lin Shuang-wen (林爽文), the Qing-era Taiwanese rebel leader who, in the late 18th century, led the largest Han-Chinese uprising against Qing rule from a base in what is now the Dali area — making the school's very name a direct tribute to local history.
