Shiliu Junior High was founded in 1979 specifically to relieve overcrowding at nearby Douliu Junior High School, giving the growing county seat a second junior high option. After the 921 earthquake damaged the campus, the school rebuilt 12 specialized classrooms. In 2022, it became Yunlin County's first experimental technology-focused junior high, positioning it at the leading edge of tech-oriented education in the county.
石榴國中創立於民國68年(1979年),主要目的是紓解鄰近斗六國中的擁擠問題,為快速成長的縣治提供第二所國中選擇。921大地震曾損壞校舍,學校隨後重建了12間專科教室。民國111年(2022年),石榴國中成為雲林縣首所科技實驗特色國中,走在縣內科技教育的前端。
