Shiliu Elementary was founded on April 1, 1941, during the Japanese colonial era, as the "Neilin National School Shiliu Branch Classroom." Over the decades since, the school has become home to a well-known school baseball team, documented in Taiwan's baseball archives — a point of local pride in this corner of Douliu, named for the Shiliu ("pomegranate") area it serves.
