Over a century at the heart of Shengang.
Shengang Elementary School opened its first classes in 1902 inside Shunji Temple, a local folk-religion temple, linking the school's origin directly to the district's traditional village religious life. Now more than 120 years old, it is Shengang's oldest and most central school. In 1935, the campus was struck by the devastating Central Taiwan earthquake, which collapsed eight classrooms and caused 189 student casualties — a tragedy the school has carried in its long institutional memory ever since.
