A school built on one entrepreneur's gift of land.

Shalu Industrial Senior High traces its founding to 1952, when local textile entrepreneur Li Qing-yun donated land to establish what was then Taiwan's only vocational school dedicated to training technicians for the textile and dyeing-finishing industry. Founded as a private institution, the school was transferred to county government administration the following year. Today it continues to serve Shalu District as a public senior high school with a strong vocational tradition rooted in the coastal town's manufacturing heritage.

Shalu's textile and dyeing heritage.

🧵

Shalu's economy in the mid-20th century was built on textile and dyeing-finishing manufacturing — a legacy that gave rise to this very school. Li Qing-yun's gift of land in 1952 reflects how deeply local industry and education were intertwined in the district's development. See the Taichung county page for more on the region.
