Named for "Little Keelung."
Sanzhi Elementary was founded in 1911 as Xiaojilong Public School ("Little Keelung Public School"), taking its name from Sanzhi's original Han-settlement place name. In 1912 it absorbed neighboring Laomei Public School as a branch campus. The school was renamed Sanzhi National School in 1941 and finally Sanzhi Elementary School in 1968, its history tracking Taiwan's shift from Japanese colonial administration through the postwar decades.
三芝國小創立於1911年，初名「小基隆公學校」，沿用了三芝最早的漢人開墾地名。1912年，學校將鄰近的老梅公學校併入為分校。1941年（昭和16年）更名為「三芝國民學校」，1968年（民國57年）再改名為現今的「三芝國小」，其校史正好見證了台灣從日治時期到戰後數十年的行政變遷。
