Sanguang Junior High School was founded in 1995 to serve the expanding residential population of Beitun District, drawing students from eight neighborhoods (里) across the area. As one of Beitun's newer junior highs, its founding reflects the district's rapid suburban growth outward from its older core. The school currently also hosts the preparatory office for Nanxing Elementary School, a brand-new school set to open on former railway-depot land in 2026.
三光國中創立於民國84年（1995年），為服務北屯區日益擴張的居住人口而設立，招收範圍涵蓋當地八個里。作為北屯較新設立的國中之一，其創校反映了北屯由舊市區向外快速郊區化的發展歷程。目前校內也設有南興國小籌備處——這所全新學校預計於2026年在原台中機廠用地上開學。
