A river-bend school with a logging past.
Quchi Elementary opened in 1921 as a branch of Xindian Common School under Japanese rule, becoming an independent school in 1927. It was renamed several times over the following decades of colonial administration. The school sits in Quchi (屈尺), a mountainous community at a bend in the upper Xindian River, historically a waypoint for logging and river transport, and today a gateway toward the Bitan and Feicui Reservoir area.

🪵 A Historic Logging Waypoint
屈尺伐木轉運據點
The Quchi area was historically a stop for logging and river transport along the upper Xindian River, a history the school's setting still reflects.
🌊 Upstream of Bitan
碧潭上游
Positioned along a bend in the upper Xindian River, the school sits between the well-known Bitan scenic area and Feicui Reservoir further upstream.
🏫 Multiple Renamings Under Colonial Rule
日治時期歷經多次更名
Like many schools founded during Japanese rule, Quchi Elementary went through several name changes before settling into its current identity.
A gateway toward Bitan and Feicui.
Quchi's setting at a bend in the upper Xindian River made it a historic logging and river-transport waypoint, and the area remains a scenic gateway toward Bitan and the Feicui Reservoir. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
