Relocated for a power plant, reinvented for bilingual learning.
Qianhua Elementary opened in 1907 as a branch of Jinbaoli Public School. In the 1970s, the school was forced to relocate when its original campus land was needed for the construction of the Jinshan Nuclear Power Plant — a direct encounter between a traditional farming and fishing hamlet and national energy infrastructure. In 2008, the school launched an "English Magic Academy" bilingual-immersion program, giving this small North Coast school an unusually strong English-learning identity for its size.
