Built by the community it still serves.
Pitou Elementary began in 1936, when local residents donated and raised funds to buy land and build three classrooms and two teacher dormitories as a branch school. It became an independent school in 1947 and took its current name in 1957, following Taiwan's nine-year compulsory education reform. Today the school continues that community spirit, with student arts clubs performing at public events and children joining rice-planting activities to help fund their own field trips.
