Pengfu Elementary School was founded in 1989 to serve the southern side of Shulin, an area that has historically remained more agricultural even as the district's northern half industrialized. Rather than feeding into Yulin Junior High like the schools north of the rail line, Pengfu's graduates continue into Shulin Senior High's junior division, following the district's long-standing rail-line school-zoning split.
