Mailiao Senior High School was founded on August 12, 1963 as the "Yunlin County Xiluo Middle School Mailiao Branch." It became independent as Mailiao Junior High School in November 1967, then added a senior high division in 1999; the combined name it carries today dates from 2000. The school's boys' volleyball team won its first national junior-high championship in 2021, and the school today draws students from grades 7 through 12 across Mailiao Township.
麥寮高中創立於1963年8月12日，初名「雲林縣西螺中學麥寮分部」。1967年11月獨立設校，定名「麥寮國民中學」，1999年增設高中部，2000年起沿用現今校名。該校男子排球隊於2021年首次奪得全國國中組冠軍。學校現招收國中至高中（七至十二年級）學生，服務麥寮鄉全鄉。
