Luzhou Junior High opened in 1968 as the first public secondary school in Luzhou. The urgency to serve a fast-growing township outpaced the school's own construction: its first cohort of students had to be temporarily educated at a private school because the campus land had not yet been acquired. Even after the campus opened, its low-lying site left it prone to flooding in the school's early years. Today the school sits near the Luzhou Li Family Mansion (蘆洲李宅), a national historic monument that anchors the district's 19th-century settler history.
蘆洲國中創立於民國57年（1968年），是蘆洲第一所公立中學。當時因人口快速成長，設校需求急迫，第一屆學生甚至因校地尚未取得而暫時借用私立學校上課。校園啟用後，因地勢低窪，早年也常遭遇淹水之苦。如今學校鄰近國定古蹟蘆洲李宅，見證了蘆洲十九世紀的開拓移民史。
