Luyang Elementary opened in August 2025, making it the newest elementary school in Taichung City. It was built to relieve overcrowding caused by Shalu District's ongoing population boom. The school takes its name from — and sits beside — the historic residence of Chen Tian-yang, a traditional swordsmith whose craft is part of Shalu's local heritage.
