Linkou Junior High was founded in 1968, the same year Taiwan implemented nine-year compulsory education nationwide — one of the first wave of junior highs created by that reform. Predating Linkou New Town by more than two decades, it has grown into the largest of Linkou's four junior high schools, with 51 classes and around 1,635 students drawn from across the district, old and new.
林口國中創立於民國57年（1968年），正值台灣全面實施九年國民義務教育的第一年，是當年因應此教育改革而設立的第一批國中之一。相較林口新市鎮的開發，早了二十餘年，如今已成長為林口區四所國中中規模最大的一所，共51個班級、約1,635名學生，學生來源涵蓋林口新舊各地。
