Linkou Senior High traces its origin to a preparatory office established in 1995, five years before the school formally opened in 2000. It was purpose-built to serve Linkou New Town, the large government-planned satellite community that transformed a quiet plateau of tea and pineapple farms into a modern residential district on Taipei's edge. Today the school spans a 4.995-hectare campus with around 45 classes and nearly 1,900 students, making it one of the newer additions to New Taipei's senior-high landscape.
林口高中的歷史可追溯至民國84年（1995年）成立的籌備處，五年後、民國89年（2000年）正式創校。學校是為服務「林口新市鎮」而興建——這是一項大型政府規劃的衛星市鎮計畫，將原本寧靜的茶園與鳳梨田台地，轉變為台北近郊的現代化住宅區。如今校地面積達4.995公頃，約45個班級，學生人數將近1,900人，是新北市高中之中較新設立的一所。
