An old coastal school reinvented as a KIST pioneer.
Laomei Experimental Elementary opened in 1900 as Laomei Public School. It briefly lost independence, becoming a branch of Sanzhi Elementary in 1912, before regaining independent status in 1921 and taking its present name in 1968. In 2023, the school was converted into northern Taiwan's first public KIST (KIPP-inspired Chengchi-Chengchi partnership) experimental school, in partnership with the Chengchi Education Foundation and the HTC Foundation — a striking transformation for a small, century-old coastal village school.
老梅實驗小學創立於1900年，初名「老梅公學校」。1912年一度失去獨立地位，成為三芝公學校的分校，1921年（大正10年）恢復獨立設校，1968年（民國57年）改為現名。2023年，學校轉型為北台灣第一所公立KIST實驗學校，由政大教育基金會與宏達基金會合作推動——對這所百年歷史的濱海小校而言，是一次相當醒目的轉型。
