Juren Junior High School opened its doors on September 18, 1946 as "臺中市立初級中學" (Taichung Municipal Junior Middle School), making use of part of the former Japanese-era Meiji School campus — today the site of Datong Elementary School — as its first home. The school briefly ran a senior-high division in 1949, was renamed "臺中市立第一中學" (Taichung Municipal First Middle School) in 1957, and took its present name, "居仁," in 1971.
居仁國中於民國35年（1946年）9月18日創校，初名「臺中市立初級中學」，最初借用日治時期明治小學校（即今日大同國小）部分校舍作為首個校址。民國38年（1949年）曾短暫設有高中部，民國46年（1957年）更名為「臺中市立第一中學」，民國60年（1971年）正式更名為「居仁」。
