From branch classroom to independent public school.
Jiuzhuang Elementary School traces its roots to 1922, when it began as a branch classroom of Dapi Public School. It became an independent public school in 1940 as "Jiuzhuang Public School," was renamed to its current title in 1968, and in 1976 a branch of the school separated to become Lianmei Elementary School. As one of Dapi Township's oldest schools, it is rooted in the farming communities whose mustard-green harvests sustain the township's famous suan cai pickling trade.
