Rebuilt after disaster, rooted in community.
Jinde Elementary School began in 1961 as a branch of Chenggong Elementary School, becoming independent in 1963. Named for Jinhua Road, the school shares its origin story with the neighboring Lixing and Chenggong Elementary Schools, all products of East District's postwar growth. In 1999, the school suffered serious building damage in the catastrophic 921 earthquake, and students studied for a time in temporary container classrooms while the campus was rebuilt.
