Jifeng Elementary was approved for establishment in 1996 and opened its doors in 1998, created specifically to relieve overcrowding at neighboring Qiaorong Elementary School as Wufeng's population grew. Despite being one of the district's youngest schools, its campus has become widely cited as one of Taichung's most scenic, a point of pride for a school still writing its own history.
吉峰國小於民國85年（1996年）獲准設校，民國87年（1998年）正式開學，設立目的是為紓解鄰近僑榮國小因霧峰人口成長而產生的過度擁擠問題。儘管是霧峰區歷史最年輕的學校之一，其校園卻被廣泛譽為台中市最具風景魅力的校園之一，也是這所仍在書寫自身歷史的學校的一項驕傲。
