Zhongzheng Elementary School was established in 1958 as a branch split from Huwei Elementary School, the township's original parent school. It is one of several schools formed by subdividing Huwei Elementary during the town's mid-20th-century population boom, a period fueled by the workforce of the Huwei Sugar Refinery. The school today serves families in central Huwei Town.
中正國小創立於民國47年（1958年），是自虎尾鎮母校虎尾國小分設而出的學校之一。當時正值虎尾鎮因糖廠人口成長而蓬勃發展的年代，虎尾國小因此陸續分出多所學校，中正國小即為其中之一。學校至今持續服務虎尾鎮市區的學童。
