Zhengmin Elementary School

Zhengmin Elementary School was founded in 1948, named in memory of fallen Air Force general Ye Zhengmin. It began as an Air Force-run school for the children of a nearby military dependents' village, tied to the former Huwei Air Base — a WWII-era Japanese naval air training field later used by the ROC Air Force until 2004. Since 2017, the school has operated under the KIST (Kist Independent School Trust) charter model, a notable departure from Taiwan's typical public-school structure.

拯民國小創立於民國37年（1948年），為紀念殉職空軍將領葉拯民而命名。學校最初為空軍所辦、專供鄰近眷村子弟就讀的學校，與虎尾空軍基地——一座二戰時期日本海軍航空隊訓練場，後由中華民國空軍使用至2004年——淵源深厚。自2017年起，學校採用KIST（KIST公辦民營）特許學校模式辦學，是台灣公立學校體系中較特別的案例。
