Born from the merger of two historic schools.
National Huwei Senior High School was formed in 1968 through the merger of Taiwan Provincial Huwei Girls' Senior High School, established in 1940, and Huwei Senior High School, established in 1946. The combined school became a national-level institution in February 2000. Huwei's civic identity was shaped by its sugar-refining heritage, home to the historic Huwei Sugar Refinery, and the school has served generations of local families connected to that industrial legacy.
