Hungkuang University was founded in 1967 (ROC 56) by Dr. Wang Yuxuan as a nursing junior college, reaching full university status in 2003. That nursing and health-sciences heritage remains central to the university's identity today. Hungkuang enrolls more than 13,000 students, including around 700 international students, and won the National Sustainable Development Prize in 2017.
弘光科技大學創立於民國56年（1967年），由王玉雪博士創辦，初為護理專科學校，於民國92年（2003年）升格為大學。護理與健康科學傳統至今仍是弘光的核心特色。學校現有逾13,000名學生，其中包括約700名國際學生，並於民國106年（2017年）榮獲國家永續發展獎。
