A new school with an old name.
Huludun Elementary School was established in 1997 and admitted its first class in 2000, making it one of Fengyuan's newest campuses. Despite being brand new, the school chose a deliberately historic name: Huludun, the old Pingpu-derived town name by which Fengyuan was known before its modern name was adopted — a conscious nod to local heritage on a thoroughly modern campus.
What makes this school worth knowing.
🏺 A Deliberately Historic Name

🆕 A Modern Campus for a Growing District
現代化校園
Built from scratch and opened in 2000, Huludun Elementary offers modern facilities to meet the needs of Fengyuan's growing population.
🌾 Reviving a Pingpu-Era Place Name
重現平埔族地名
The name Huludun connects the brand-new campus to Fengyuan's pre-Japanese-era history as a Pingpu Aboriginal settlement site.
Reviving Fengyuan's oldest place name.
The name Huludun (葫蘆墩) is Fengyuan's own historic place name, rooted in the area's Pingpu Aboriginal-era history — and this new school's choice to revive it reflects a broader pride in Fengyuan's deep local heritage. See the Taichung county page for more on the region.
