Hulin Junior High was founded on February 1, 1997, on 2.8 hectares of national land granted free of charge by the ROC Air Force. Its campus buildings officially opened in April 1999. The school has built a strong athletic tradition over the years, with table tennis, handball, track and field, gymnastics, and baseball teams that have won citywide championships. Today, Hulin's campus also hosts the newly established Digital Experimental Senior High School as it gets on its feet.
虎林國中創立於民國86年（1997年）2月1日，校地為空軍無償撥用之2.8公頃國有土地。校舍於民國88年（1999年）4月正式啟用。多年來，學校在桌球、手球、田徑、體操、棒球等項目上建立起堅強的運動傳統，屢獲全市冠軍。目前，虎林的校園也暫時借予新成立的數位實驗高中辦學。
