Houde Elementary was founded in August 1963 when 19 classes were split off from the long-established Sanchong Elementary School, one of several schools carved out of that century-old institution as Sanchong urbanized rapidly after WWII. The school built a dedicated arts-talent music class with a full student orchestra, and its marimba percussion ensemble has become nationally recognized, taking the top national prize ten times. Houde also runs dedicated sports classes and, alongside its regular elementary program, hosts a supplementary school offering continuing education for adults.
厚德國小創立於民國52年（1963年）8月，由歷史悠久的三重國小分出19個班級設校，是戰後三重快速都市化過程中，從這所百年老校陸續分出的多所學校之一。學校設有音樂資優班並組建完整學生管弦樂團，其馬林巴木琴打擊樂團更十度榮獲全國賽冠軍，備受肯定。厚德同時設有體育班，並在正規國小教育之外附設補習學校，提供成人繼續教育課程。

Houde is one of several schools — alongside Zhengyi, Guangrong, and others — spun off in the 1950s through 1970s from the century-old Sanchong Elementary School, as the district absorbed a flood of new residents crossing the Danshui River from Taipei in search of affordable housing.
