Heping Junior High School

Heping Junior High School began as a branch school in 1967 and became fully independent the following year. As the sole junior high school serving Heping District — a mountainous area covering roughly 40% of Taichung's total land area and home to most of the city's Atayal Indigenous population — the school has in recent years reoriented its curriculum, now operating as "Taichung Heping Junior High Atayal Culture Experimental Education." This shift reflects the district's strong Indigenous identity and its commitment to keeping Atayal language and culture central to local schooling.

和平國中於1967年以分校形式設立，隔年正式獨立設校。作為和平區唯一的國中，服務著這片約占台中市總面積四成、也是全市泰雅族原住民人口最集中的山區。近年來，學校調整課程方向，轉型為「臺中市和平區和平國民中學泰雅文化實驗教育」，展現和平區堅實的原住民身分認同，並致力於讓泰雅族語言與文化持續成為在地教育的核心。
