About · 學校簡介

A landmark school at the foot of the mountain.

National Hsinchu Senior High School was founded in April 1922 under Japanese rule as "新竹州立新竹中學校," a five-year general middle school for boys, later shortened to four years in 1941. After Taiwan's retrocession in 1945, it was renamed Taiwan Provincial Hsinchu Middle School, and became a senior-high-only institution in 1970. The school sits at the foot of Shibajianshan (Eighteen Peaks Mountain), neighboring Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School as well as National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and National Tsing Hua University — placing it at the heart of the city's academic and research corridor. Its motto, "誠、慧、健、毅" (Sincerity, Wisdom, Health, Perseverance), reflects over a century of educational tradition.
