Built to serve nine villages.
Ximen Elementary was founded on August 1, 1952, to serve nine local villages that made up its school district. In its first year, the school had no campus of its own and borrowed classrooms from Minfu Elementary School for 14 classes, until its own campus was completed in March 1953. Its first graduating class of 184 students walked the stage in 1955. The school was renamed "西門國小" in 1963, and took its current municipal name in 1982.

A community school built from the ground up.
Ximen was founded in 1952 explicitly to serve nine local villages, and its early history of borrowed classrooms and a rapidly built campus reflects the resourcefulness of Hsinchu's postwar school expansion. See the Hsinchu City page for more on the region.
