National Hsinchu Industrial Vocational Senior High School was established on April 1, 1944, under Japanese rule as "新竹州立新竹工業學校," one of Taiwan's eight major provincial industrial schools founded during the colonial era. It was renamed Taiwan Provincial Hsinchu Industrial Vocational Senior High School in 1969, and converted to national administration in February 2000. Located across from the TRA Beixinzhu train station, the school carries a long history of vocational and technical education tied to Hsinchu's industrial development, credited with supplying skilled talent that helped feed the region's later growth into a science and technology hub.

新竹高工創校於1944年(昭和19年)4月1日日治時期,原名「新竹州立新竹工業學校」,為台灣日治時期設立的八大省立工業學校之一。1969年改名為「台灣省立新竹高級工業職業學校」,並於2000年2月改制為國立。學校位於新竹後站(新竹車站後方)對面,承載了新竹工業發展的悠久技職教育歷史,培育出的技術人才也為新竹後來發展成科技重鎮奠定基礎。
