Two schools, one campus, one coffee-growing community.

Gukeng Combined Elementary and Junior High School serves as the anchor educational institution of Gukeng Township. Its elementary division dates back to 1934 as a branch campus, while its junior high division originated as a branch of Dounan Junior High School before becoming independent around 1958–1959. The two divisions formally merged into a single combined K-9 institution in August 2015, unifying elementary and junior-high education under one administration. The elementary campus suffered severe damage in the catastrophic 921 earthquake of 1999, with 18 classrooms destroyed; it was rebuilt with support from the China Times and the Yihe Group. Today the school anchors education at the heart of Gukeng's coffee-farming community.
