A brand-new campus by one of Taiwan's most celebrated architecture firms.
Guanpu Elementary was born out of Hsinchu's "New Campus Movement," a city initiative to build new schools for its fast-growing under-14 population, and admitted its first students in the 2018 school year (民國107年) — making it Hsinchu's first new public elementary school under that program. The campus was designed by Fieldoffice Architects (田中央聯合建築師事務所), led by architect Huang Sheng-yuan, marking the acclaimed firm's first full campus project outside its home base of Yilan. Demand quickly outpaced planning: the school was designed for 260 first-graders, but drew 390 applicants at opening, forcing adjustments to class sizes. The campus was built in the spirit of Taiwan's 108 curriculum guidelines.
關埔國小是新竹市「新校園運動」政策下誕生的學校，為因應快速成長的14歲以下人口而設立，於民國107年（2018年）學年度首度招生，是該政策下新竹市首座新設公立國小。校園由知名建築師黃聲遠領軍的「田中央聯合建築師事務所」設計，是該團隊首次於宜蘭以外完成的完整校園作品。學校原規劃招收260名一年級新生，開學時卻湧入390名申請者，校方因而調整班級規模。校園建設理念呼應台灣108課綱精神。
