Gongming Junior High opened in 2001, making it one of the newest junior high schools in Shalu District. It was established to serve the growing Gongming residential area along Zhongqing Road, one of the fastest-developing parts of the district in recent decades. Despite its relatively short history, the school has built a name for itself in music education, with its recorder ensemble earning honors at national competitions.
公明國中創立於民國90年（2001年），是沙鹿地區最年輕的國中之一，因應中清路沿線公明地區近年快速發展的居住人口而設立。雖然建校歷史不長，學校在音樂教育上表現亮眼，直笛團屢屢在全國音樂比賽中獲得佳績。
