Gongliao Experimental Junior High was founded in 1968 as the district's only junior high school. In 2022, facing a small and declining student population, it was rebranded as an experimental junior high, redesigning its curriculum around outdoor and place-based learning tied to the surrounding coastal environment. Today it is a very small school of roughly 68 students across six classes.
貢寮實驗國中創立於民國57年（1968年），是貢寮區唯一的國中。面對學生人數逐漸減少的挑戰，學校於2022年轉型為實驗國中，將課程重新設計為以戶外教育與在地場域學習為核心，結合周邊海岸環境。目前全校僅約68名學生，共6個班級。
