Ganyuan Elementary School traces its roots to 1911, when it opened as a branch of Shulin Public School (樹林公學校); it became an independent school as Ganyuan Public School (柑園公學校) in 1921. One of the oldest schools in Shulin, it celebrated its 110th anniversary around 2021 and continues to serve the historic Ganyuan farming settlement at the confluence of the Sanxia and Dahan rivers.
