Fuhe Junior High was founded in 1979, with its first classes beginning in September 1980, as Yonghe's population grew rapidly through the 1970s. It opened as a girls-only school before returning to co-ed enrollment in 1993, and it shares the same odd/even household-ID district split with neighboring Yonghe Junior High.
福和國中創立於民國68年（1979年），首屆學生於民國69年（1980年）9月入學，正值永和地區人口於1970年代快速成長之時。創校初期為女子學校，民國82年（1993年）起恢復男女合校，並與鄰近的永和國中共同以身分證字號單雙數劃分學區。
