Fenyuan Elementary was established on November 15, 1903, as "Shekou Public School," renamed "Fenyuan Public School" in 1911, and given its current name in 1968. It is the oldest and largest county elementary school in Fenyuan Township, and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2003. The school was severely damaged in the 1959 flood known as the "Eight-Seven Flood" (八七水災) but was rebuilt, and its students have gone on to win awards in short-track speed skating, taekwondo, track and field, and storytelling competitions.
芬園國小創立於民國前9年(1903年)11月15日,初名「社口公學校」,1911年更名為「芬園公學校」,民國57年(1968年)定名為現今校名。為芬園鄉歷史最悠久、規模最大的縣立國小,並於2003年舉辦建校百週年慶祝活動。學校在民國48年(1959年)的「八七水災」中受創嚴重,後重建復校,學生在短道競速滑冰、跆拳道、田徑及說故事比賽中屢獲佳績。
