Fengyuan Senior High School began in 1954 as a dispersal branch established to spread out student enrollment during a period of school crowding, becoming a fully independent senior high school in 1968. Today it enrolls roughly 1,500 students across about 45 classes, and is best known for its fine-arts talent program, founded in 1984 as the first public-school art program of its kind in Taiwan. The school also teaches a required "Fengyuan Studies" course, built specifically to root students in the history of their home district.
臺中市立豐原高級中等學校源起於民國43年（1954年）設立的疏散分部，後於民國57年（1968年）獨立設校。如今全校約有45班、1,500名學生，最為人稱道的是其於1984年成立的美術資優班——全台公立高中最早設立的美術班。學校並開設必修的「豐原學」課程，專為引導學生認識家鄉歷史而設計。
