Denggong Elementary School opened in 1989 as Tamsui's 12th public elementary school. Local gentry chose to name it for the "Denggong" village rather than the originally proposed name, "Fengwen Elementary." The campus stands about 400 meters from Tamsui MRT station and 500 meters from Tamkang University, and just 200 meters from Yinshan Temple (鄞山寺), a second-class historic monument tied to Tamsui's Hakka immigrant heritage. The school's emblem is a tree.

Just 200 meters away stands Yinshan Temple (鄞山寺), a second-class historic monument built by Tingzhou Hakka immigrants in the 19th century — one of the clearest markers of Tamsui's often-overlooked Hakka settler history. See the New Taipei county page for more on the region.
