Born from a national education policy.
Dapi Junior High School was established in 1970 under the 1968 nine-year compulsory education "one township, one junior high" policy, which required every township in Taiwan to have its own junior high school. Before its permanent campus was resolved — a land dispute was settled only in 1988 — the school used a private school building as an interim campus. Today it serves as the sole public junior high for Dapi Township.
