Danhai Elementary School was named in 2018 and fully opened on August 30, 2023, making it the newest school in Tamsui District. It occupies a multi-purpose building costing more than NT$767 million that combines school facilities with a community and social-welfare center, situated beside the Danhai New Town station on the Tamsui Light Rail's Green Line. The school's creation reflects the transformation of the surrounding Danhai (Tamsui New Town) area from reclaimed farmland and sandbar into a fully planned new town.
淡海國小於民國107年（2018年）定名，民國112年（2023年）8月30日正式啟用，是淡水區最新設立的學校。校舍造價逾新台幣7.67億元，為結合學校與社區、社福中心的多功能建築，緊鄰淡海輕軌綠山線「淡海新市鎮站」。學校的誕生見證了淡海地區——過去的農地與沙洲——如今發展為完整規劃新市鎮的轉變。
